He walked slowly along the cobbled street. Servius was in no hurry. It was nice to be able to walk along and collect his thoughts without those insufferable brats the school called students. Of course, he had to see them here too, but at least he didn’t have to stop and speak with them. Or did he? Coming along the road of Diagon Alley was a familiar bushy haired girl. On either side of her were two adults, by the way they glanced around, they were muggles. Servious sighed as the girl waved at him timidly. Where did she get the courage he wondered. Servious forced a small smile as the trio moved now in his direction. “Miss Granger.” He sneered and then offered his hand to her parents. “Servius Snape.” He said. “Potions Master.”

Hermione mentally shook herself, had she just seen Profesor Snape smile?!. That was something she knew was only just because her parents were there. 'Hello Professor Snape. Didn't expect to see you here.' Hermione stayed quiet as both of her pardnts shook his hand, politely greeting him. She wondered why she even waved to him in the first place. Oh yea, because they would have expected me too. Though, i do wonder why he even acknowledged me, usually he just glares.

Servius did not know what had brought upon this act of kindness but he found himself being ushered into Leaky Cauldron for a bite, as the elder Granger's had put it. He had of course tried to protest but the anoying muggles flanked him on either side with their daughter following behind. 'Why did I smile at them?' Servius thought furiously. 'Why did I shake hands?' He was kicking himself. He found himself inside the eatery and seated at a booth. Mrs. Granger sat beside him and Hermione across from him where she had been nuddged by her father. Servius looked at Hermione silently for a short moment.

Hermione felt Snape stare silently at her from across the table. She was sitting nice and tall as to not make her parents think she was 'bad-mannered'. Why does he stare? I know he must be supiscious of something, but this is just creepy with the staring. Hermione thought to herself while listening to her parents talking politics with Snape. She mentally dropped her jaw open when they asked him about how she was doing in his class.Oh bloody hell,he could say anything and they would believe it

Servius had to think of how to answer. He could ruin the rest of this girls summer right here and now. A slight sneer formed on his lips. Then he looked into Hermione's nervous eyes and then at her parents. Servius sighed. "Your daughter is quite gifted." He heard himself saying. He saw he smiles on the elder Granger's faces. "She is one of my top students. Infact one of the top in the school." The waitress had arrived giving Servius the opportunity to shut up. He order Halibut and chips and an Ale to wash it down with. Once more he glanced at Hermione. He offered a small smile. He only hoped that she would not expect this after today.

Hermione was relieved when Snape spoke highly of her. Though after today she knew things would return back to silence and glares. Oddly enough Hermione was completely ok with that. In fact, she was glad; Snape being nice was just too creepy. When it was her turn to order, Hermione chose a turkey sandwhich with tomatoes and lettuce, some chips and a water.

All was fairly silent as the food arrived and everyone began to eat. Servius was a little surprised by how good the fod was here. He had never eaten outside of the school or his own home before. Sevius quite forgot about his company until they began talking again.

Hermione was quiet while she ate her food, with manners as always. She wasn't quite sure what to ask her professor. Luckily though her father was the one to speak up for her family. 'So, Professor Snape. How hard are you thinking the O.W.L.S will be this year.' Hermione flinched inwardly, she knew she would probably end up having to help Ron and Harry study.

Servius took a drink of his beer before answering. "The exams are designed to be quite tough in order for the professors to see if the students are grasping the material." He said slowly. "I like to see how well my students have progressed, however your daughter has an uncany way of memorizing everything and then tutouring her friends as well." Snape looked around slightly the bar was empty almost.

Hermion looked down at her food as she felt her parents glance her way. 'Well the only reason i help them study is so they don't fail. Besides, i owe them after all the times they've helped me out.' Hermione was too loyal of a friend to allow Harry and Ron fail their O.W.L.s. Even if she help them study, it wasn't as if they didn't learn anything because they certainly did remember the facts of what was gone over in class.

"It is a Gryffindor trait to help others." Servius said softly. "Thanke you for your company but I really must head back to the school." Servius stood and knodded to the senior Grangers and then looked to Hermione. I will see you in class, Miss Granger." Servius motioned to the waitress and then paid for everyones meal. He turned to the Grangers once more. Have a pleasent day." And then he turned and walked out.
